Just watching MoTD 2 from last night. What has happened to the BBC coverage these days? They used to be entertaining and insightful and I just find myself fast forwarding the analysis because I find myself disagreeing with a lot of what they say.

The goal could have been ruled out for one of two reasons. The fact that Valencia was not 10 yards away or the fact that a free kick to the defending team in the penalty area must come out of the penalty area before being touched by another player. Much like a goal kick.
The second is a little known law, even amongst referees. In the past season I've had rows with two refs and opposition players when it hasn't been enforced. Both players and refs were adamant that I was wrong and gave me plenty of abuse in the process.

that area

Commentator was correct, a free kick I your own box has to leave the box, much like a goal kick.
I had to look it up though, I would have blown for him not being 10 yards.

Was the commentator on our game correct when he said that Valencia should have been out of the penalty area when Green took that free kick? I don't think so. Hartson on 5 Live said the goal should have stood.
